3G Infrastructure Services Chooses TietoEnator's Project Management Method, PPS

ESPOO, Finland, April 18, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- 3G Infrastructure Services (3GIS) chooses the project management method, PPS (Praktisk Projektstyrning) from TietoEnator. 3GIS will thereby have access to a well-tried method for the management and handling of projects.

The contract is valid for three years and includes a PPS company licence and right of use of the method, training for different target groups and consultancy work related to the method.

The development of PPS started 15 years ago and the method has been successively adapted and modified from the experience gained. Today it is used among a large number of companies, both large and small, in different branches in Sweden and abroad. TietoEnator also offers PPS training and this year alone about 3500 people will be trained.

The PPS method mainly offers a structure for the work in a project. The aim is to guarantee that the project achieves customer benefit and profitability, but a lot of importance is also placed on people, that is to say, the project members' roles and responsibilities.

"The strength of the method is that it is based on an overall view of the project and that it can be applied to any branch. It is very pleasing that 3GIS who are going to build and run the operators' common infrastructure for the third generation mobile network, have chosen PPS," said Elisabeth Erholt at TietoEnator PPS.

With almost 12,000 employees and annual net sales of EUR 1.1 billion, TietoEnator is a leading supplier of high value-added IT services in Europe. TietoEnator specialises in consulting, building and hosting its customers' business operations in the digital economy. The Group's services are based on a combination of deep industry-specific expertise and latest information technology. www.tietoenator.com

The company's objective is to build and operate the infrastructure that will enable operators to offer their customers UMTS-based mobile services outside Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmo and Karlskrona. When the rollout is completed, 70 per cent of the Swedish population will have access to faster communication via the company's infrastructure, which will be integrated with the operators' respective networks. 3G Infrastructure Services AB is undergoing strong growth and plans to have a staff of 100 by the end of the year.
