New Nokia IP710 Security Platform Sets the Mark for Mid-Range Security Systems

Singapore, April 22, 2002 - Nokia (NYSE: NOK) today announced the Nokia IP710, a mid-range network security platform for enterprises and service providers, and the newest member of the Nokia industry leading Internet security appliance portfolio. The Nokia IP710 delivers high- speed small- and large-packet performance (180 Mbps and 700 Mbps respectively) and multiple subsystem redundancy, providing maximum network availability with market leading capabilities at a competitive price.

The Nokia IP710 complements the award winning IP530 and IP740 platforms by delivering high availability features and performance in a mid-range platform. The Nokia IP710 is NEBS III compliant, tightly integrating Check Point Software Technologies (NASDAQ:CHKP) VPN-1®(TM)/FireWall-1®, and Internet Security Systems (ISS) (NASDAQ: ISSX) RealSecure intrusion detection monitoring software with Nokia purpose-built hardware platform and IPSO hardened operating system. The Nokia IP710 surpasses security platform requirements of enterprise and service provider customers with its hot swappable and redundant components, remote manageability, and global policy deployment for reduced total cost of ownership.

"The Nokia IP710 demonstrates Nokia's ability to continually raise the price performance bar in the areas of throughput, high availability, ease of management and global service and support, tightly integrated with the best-of-breed security applications from Check Point and ISS," said Dan MacDonald, Vice President, Product Management, Nokia Internet Communications. "Enterprise and service provider customers will be particularly pleased with the fact that, while the Nokia IP710 is the newest member of the IP series portfolio, it leverages the same operating system, optional hardware components and management user interface they already know."

Improved scalability and performance
The Nokia IP710 comes with the latest version of the IPSO operating system that now includes support for virtual LAN topologies (VLAN). For those environments that require high port density, the Nokia IP710 matches the IP740 for port density, allowing up to 20 10/100 Ethernet connections, and supporting GigE connectivity. This provides customers the flexibility for supporting a multitude of networks and is especially important in enterprise and service provider data center environments, where security appliances must be able to protect and extend numerous private, departmental, divisional and public network segments.

Plug and protect security
The Nokia IP710 is pre-configured with best-of-breed software for deployment in approximately 30 minutes, saving resources and IT staff time. The Nokia IP710 is also fully supported by Nokia Horizon Manager, the award winning secure software image management tool, designed to dramatically reduce the time and costs associated with deploying, upgrading, tracking and maintaining software in networked environments. Consistent with the entire IP network security appliance portfolio, the Nokia IP710 is backed by the Nokia world class "First Call - Final Resolution" global service and support.

The Nokia IP710 supports Check Point Software Technologies and Internet Security Systems (ISS) security software applications, and will be available globally in June 2002.
