Ericsson Organizes to Adapt to Customer Needs

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, April 22, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Ericsson (Nasdaq:ERICY) will form a new business unit by merging Mobile Systems with Multi-Service Networks. The new business unit will be headed by Bert Nordberg.

The new business unit capitalizes on our leading position in mobile systems and multi-service core networks. By merging our ENGINE core and access systems with our Mobile Systems we can better meet the demand from our customers for integrated wireless and wireline solutions.

As the build-out of traditional wireline networks enters a maturity phase, operators focus increasingly on optimization and maintenance of their systems. In order to adapt to customer needs, we are also integrating TDMA, PDC and traditional wireline switching into our Services business.

The product development in today's Multi-Service Networks will be transferred to the R&D organization.

Bert Nordberg, currently Head of Business Unit Global Services, will take over as Head of the new merged business unit.

Karl-Henrik Sundstroem, currently Head of Market Unit Australia, will take over as Head of Business Unit Global Services.

The new organization will be effective as of May 1, 2002.

Ericsson is shaping the future of Mobile and Broadband Internet communications through its continuous technology leadership. Providing innovative solutions in more than 140 countries, Ericsson is helping to create the most powerful communication companies in the world.
