Metso to Rebuild Coating Machine at Myllykoski

HELSINKI, Finland, April 30, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Metso Paper is to supply a paper coating machine rebuild to Myllykoski Paper Oy's Myllykoski mill in Finland. The rebuilt coating line will start up in the spring of 2003. The parties have agreed not to disclose the value of the order.

The rebuild of the off-line LWC magazine paper coating machine includes new unwind and wind-up, two coating stations, a rebuild of the supply systems equipped with deaerators, and a process control system.

After the rebuild, the capacity of the machine will increase to 180,000 tons per year and the speed to 1,400 meters per minute. The rebuild will improve the quality of the end product to the level of MWC paper.

Myllykoski Paper Oy produces 500,000 tons of wood-containing printing papers annually. The main products of the mill are uncoated SC paper and coated MWC paper, which are used for rotogravure and offset printing products.
