Saab Invests in Sectra's Tiger Phones

LINKOPING, Sweden, May 3, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Saab AB has signed a framework agreement with Sectra for the eavesdrop-secure GSM Sectra Tiger(R) telephone. The agreement involves a volume of 100 Tiger phones with accessories.

"Based on our kind of business, we need to communicate in a secure manner within Saab. It is important that Saab's staff, who often travel, can communicate with one another without the risk of eavesdropping. This is why we have opted for the Sectra Tiger, which we consider to be the best solution on the market," said Benny Kronfeldt, security manager at Saab AB. "We already have positive experiences from the use of Tiger in various parts of the world."

The Sectra Tiger was designed for military use in cooperation with experts from the Swedish and Norwegian defense. Tiger guarantees secure communication between the sender and receiver in the transmission of voice and data. The NATO version of the system, the NSK 200, has been approved for communication up to the high "NATO Secret" security level. Kongsberg Defence Communications AS is Sectra's business partner for marketing and sales of the NSK 200.

"We concentrate on the defense market and, naturally, it is important for us that such a renowned and internationally connected defense industry as Saab has decided to further expand its use of the Tiger system," said Tommy Waszkiewicz, President of Sectra Communications AB.

Saab is one of the world's leading high-technology companies, with its main operations focusing on defense, aviation and space. Saab covers a broad spectrum of competence and capability in systems integration.
