Kobenhavns Lufthavne A/S: Traffic Statistics April 2002


COPENHAGEN, Denmark, May 7, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Kobenhavns Lufthavne A/S (CSE:KBHL): in April 2002, the number of passengers increased by 1.3% at Copenhagen Airport.

In April 2002 the total number of passengers shows an increase of 1.3% compared to the same month in 2001.

During the month of April 2002, the number of international passengers increased by 1.2%. The number of international scheduled passenger increased by 3.8%, while the number of international charter passengers decreased by 35.6%. The accumulated figure of the first four months of 2002 shows that international scheduled passengers has increased by 1.5% compared to the same period last year.

In the month of April 2002 the number of domestic passengers also increased. The increase was 2.0% compared to April 2001. However the accumulated figure of the first four months of 2002 shows a decrease of 8.5% compared to the same period last year.

In April 2002 the total number of takeoffs and landings has decreased by 6.2%, while the tonnage shows a decrease by 4.4%. The accumulated figure of the first four months of 2002 shows that takeoffs and landings decreased by 10.6% while the tonnage decreased by 7.1%.

The main reason for the traffic development in April 2002 is the fact that the Easter holidays were in the month of April last year, while in 2002 the Easter holidays were mainly in March. This has resulted in a positive effect in the April 2002 traffic figures. The development for the period March to April 2002 compared to the period March to April 2001 shows a decrease in the total number of passengers of 0.5%.
