ESPOO, Finland, May 30, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- TietoEnator has signed a cooperation agreement with Funka Nu AB, a Swedish company that is specialized in technology and know-how that makes the Internet available to people with disabilities. The aim of the cooperation is that more people shall be given the opportunity of utilizing digital society services as well as sharing information on web sites within Swedish public administration.
"TietoEnator is today the largest supplier in the Nordic countries of IT solutions to the public sector. The cooperation with Funka Nu AB is important for us since we know that the society sector has a demand for available solutions for people with disabilities. With this agreement our possibilities increase when ensuring that the authorities, right from the beginning, take consideration to people with disabilities and build in the right technology in their solutions. We will also be able to improve existing solutions with simple means. This will be a competitive argument for us in public procurements and tenders," said Lil Ljunggren Lonnberg at TietoEnator.

In the concept, Design for All, Funka Nu AB puts the individual in the centre with the requirements and wishes of the disabled as a target. The company safeguards both democratic and businesslike values since Design for All means that the technology will be better for all users.
As a result of the cooperation with Funka Nu AB, TietoEnator has, during the month of April, trained some 20 consultants in the latest know-how within available publication.
