Rebalancing of Global Indices

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, May 31, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Today there has been a rebalancing in a number of global indices. This has meant that investors, for example index-funds, change their portfolio holdings in accordance with the new indices.

When calculating an index, one uses closing price in the companies that are included in each index. This means that investors seek to execute as many trades as possible as close to the exchange closing as possible. As a result of this, there is a risk of major close-of-day price fluctuations.

When Stockholmsborsen closed today there were major trades in a number of shares. Stockholmsborsen's market surveillance has closely monitored this development. For the time being, Stockholmsborsen does not assess that any special actions are required.
