Nokia Horizon Manager dramatically reduces total cost of ownership

June 4, 2002 - Nokia today announced the latest version of Nokia Horizon Manager 1.2 (NHM), a purpose-built secure network systems management tool for the enterprise and service provider markets. NHM 1.2 ensures the secure rapid deployment of as many as 2,500 Nokia IP security platforms, allowing for initial installation, upgrade, backup, and restoration of Nokia's underlying operating system, hardware appliances and best of breed security applications. NHM is ideal for customers who are looking to effectively manage existing and or new security deployments from the data center to the smallest remote office.

"Beyond security itself, total cost of ownership and assuring network uptime are top of mind for every networking professional," said Dan MacDonald, Vice President, Product Management, Nokia Internet Communications. "Nokia Horizon Manager has been designed to dramatically reduce total cost of ownership and provide customers comprehensive secure remote management tools to assure maximum network performance and reliability."

Nokia Horizon Manager 1.2 centralizes network security management with an intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) that provides information on connected devices, groups of devices, action logs and action status.

The role-based administration feature effectively controls and tracks the access and actions of users, ensuring consistent administrative procedures for managing security networks. NHM 1.2 automates repetitive tasks, such as backup, restore, upgrade and patch install, reducing errors and streamlining consistent security administrative procedures to maintain optimized security network software configurations.

Nokia Horizon Manager securely communicates using SSH with RSA and DSA authentication, ensuring that a company's network is securely managed.

- Rapid migration to Check Point NG FP2 from previous Check Point NG or 4.X versions of software
- Initial configuration for Check Point VPN-1/ FW-1
