Telelogic Elected to Eclipse Board

Telelogic Supports New Industry Platform for Open Source Development Through Best-of-Breed Tool Integration

MALMO, Sweden, June 17, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Telelogic (Stockholm Exchange:TLOG), the leading global provider of solutions for advanced systems and software development, today announced that it has been unanimously elected to membership on the Eclipse Board of Directors. As a voting member of the Eclipse Consortium, Telelogic will help create and define policies, practices and standards for the open source tool development platform. The Eclipse platform is a universal tool platform that generically handles any type of resource files (Java, C, HTML or Word documents, for example) and is designed to support and facilitate a wide variety of application development. The Eclipse platform provides the framework for supporting these files; while tool vendors create all end-user functionality inter-operable plug-ins designed to the common, open source Eclipse standards. "Telelogic provides robust, integrated toolsets for the full lifecycle of advanced software and systems development," said Skip McGaughey, Chairperson of the Eclipse Board. For years, Telelogic has demonstrated its commitment to providing open, inter-operable solutions that integrate with a wide variety of tools from other vendors. Telelogic's breadth of experience and integration expertise will be extremely valuable as we create the next generation of standards for e-business development tools." The Eclipse platform has gained wide acceptance since its introduction in November, with more than 1 million project downloads from the Eclipse Website and the rapid development and release of numerous Eclipse- compliant toolsets. Telelogic joins 12 other industry leaders on the Eclipse board, including IBM, Rational, Merant, Serena and Fujitsu. Telelogic will be represented by Tony Chang, Vice President of Product Development, Irvine Lab. Mr. Chang has extensive technical knowledge and hands-on experience with the application development lifecycle. He led the product development team that developed Telelogic Synergy(TM), the industry's leading Change and Configuration Management Tool. "Telelogic is committed to making advanced development a little easier and a little simpler for everyone," Chang said. "By contributing our expertise and energies to the Eclipse Project, we are delighted to help create an open source, integrated development environment that benefits everyone. We are proud to be included as a member of this prestigious board." Telelogic has been developing several Eclipse-based tool plug-ins, based on IBM WebSphere Studio Application Developer. General Availability will be announced soon.
