Telia Chosen by Belnet After Their Main Supplier Defaults

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, June 24, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Telia International Carrier has been asked to provide 622 Mb of IP transit to Belnet after one of their main suppliers filed for Chapter 11. Belnet chose Telia IC because of the financial stability of the company combined with its extensive network and footprint.

Belnet is the national research network for education, research and public services in Belgium. It has the largest IP backbone in Belgium and offers Internet access to universities, educational and research institutes, ministries and regional entities.

"Telia IC offered us exactly what we needed with an excellent SLA (Service Level Agreement)," said Pierre Bruyere, Director of Belnet.

"This is the third research network that has chosen Telia IC. We are already a preferred supplier of GEANT and Nordunet. Once again we are pleased to be able to offer a good quality network used daily by thousands of people," said Erik Heilborn, CEO of Telia International Carrier.
