St. Jude Medical Selects Telelogic DOORS for Requirements Management

IRVINE, Calif., June 26, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Telelogic:

-- Single Requirements Database Accommodates Multiple Products,
    Teams and Locations

Telelogic (Stockholm Exchange:TLOG), the leading global provider of solutions for advanced software and systems development, today announced that it has signed a three-year product, training and maintenance agreement for Telelogic DOORS valued at U.S. $600,000 with St. Jude Medical, Inc. a leading global manufacturer of artificial heart valves, cardiac pacemakers and other medical devices.

Already a DOORS user on a regional project basis, St. Jude Medical needed a powerful requirements management solution to support the software development process for its Cardiac Rhythm Management business. St. Jude Medical is a leading supplier of pacemaker, implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD), and catheter mapping and ablation systems for the treatment of cardiac rhythm disease.

After a detailed needs analysis, St. Jude Medical determined that a single requirements database capable of supporting multiple application development products, simultaneous user access and international team collaboration was essential. As part of the evaluation, St. Jude Medical completed a rigorous testing process to ensure it standardized on a requirements management tool that could not only easily capture, link, trace, analyze and manage a wide range of information, but also integrate with a wide variety of modeling tools.

"Our globally distributed development teams needed an industrial strength solution that would enable them to increase productivity and communication, enhance quality and minimize overall project risk," said David Flood, division director, software development at St. Jude Medical. "Only Telelogic DOORS could offer us a scalable solution to handle our most complex applications and manage the entire development lifecycle from pencil sketch concepts through design and prototyping."

According to Anders Lidbeck, president and CEO of Telelogic, the advanced functionality of DOORS enables companies to automate many of their manual requirements management processes. "With DOORS, traceability can automatically be established while developing requirements, specifications, designs and test procedures, leaving users more time to spend on value-added activities instead of tedious manual tasks. As a result, organizations can increase productivity and efficiency, while at the same time reduce cost and errors."
