HERNDON, Va., Aug. 12, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- (WITH PHOTO) Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Information Technology (IT) sector announced today the appointment of Sidney E. Fuchs as vice president and director of TASC's Intelligence Operations unit, effective immediately. Fuchs will report to Jim O'Neill, president of Northrop Grumman IT's TASC business unit.

With more than 15 years of senior management and intelligence experience, Fuchs will be responsible for an operating unit with annual revenues approaching $100 million. The Intelligence Operations unit provides information technology, systems engineering, product development and operations solutions to the U.S. intelligence community worldwide.
Fuchs is a seasoned executive with experience in federal and commercial product sales and consulting with companies such as Rational Software Corporation, Oracle Corporation and Digital Equipment Corporation. He succeeds Ronald E. Szabo, who left the company to pursue other opportunities.

Prior to joining TASC, Fuchs served as director of Professional Services at Rational Software, McLean, Va., since 1998, where he regularly advised industry and government leaders worldwide in the areas of management, information technology and software development. Fuchs also led a sales and consulting organization that consistently surpassed revenue targets.
At Oracle, Reston, Va., he served as national sales director where he established new sales teams that achieved annual sales targets from 1997 to 1998. Prior to his work at Oracle, he served as global sales director at Digital Equipment, Greenbelt, Md., from 1994 to 1997 where his sales and technical teams consistently exceeded annual sales of $240 million and earned several recognition and sales awards, including Top Corporate Account.

In addition to his experience in private industry, Fuchs previously served as an intelligence officer with the Central Intelligence Agency where he held operations, engineering and management positions in the areas of field operations, intelligence collection and analysis, project management and systems development and acquisition.
Fuchs earned bachelor's and master's degrees in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Louisiana State University where he was a Graduate Fellow and an engineering instructor during his graduate program. In addition, he has participated in Xerox Corporation's Executive Business Management program and the Peter Drucker Leadership program. He is also a guest lecturer at the Northern Virginia Community College in the areas of technology and business.
