HERNDON, Va., Aug. 13, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) will provide a broad range of information technology (IT) services to assist the U.S. Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) with future requirements.
The five-year, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract has a base year value of $5.3 million and a total potential value of $28.3 million to Northrop Grumman's Information Technology (IT) sector, if the four one-year options are exercised. Work on the USJFCOM program will be performed at the command's facilities in Norfolk and Suffolk, Va.
Northrop Grumman IT will provide business process engineering and reengineering, activity-based cost (ABC) analysis, technical support for technology insertion, virtual information systems support, knowledge and information management, strategic planning and subject matter expertise for USJFCOM. These services include developing new or revising existing business processes, developing ABC models, developing and maintaining Web pages, conducting analysis for technology insertion, and developing and maintaining customer databases.

Northrop Grumman IT first provided business process reengineering, technical support, virtual information systems support and information management support to the U.S. Atlantic Command (now USJFCOM) under a Defense Information Systems Agency Joint Interoperability Engineering Organization omnibus task order in 1994. The company subsequently received contracts to provide knowledge management, ABC analysis, subject matter expertise in areas such as antiterrorism and force protection, and fund administration and document automation support.
USJFCOM is the chief advocate for joint operations within the Department of Defense. Its mission includes maximizing present and future military capability by employing joint concept development and experimentation; recommending joint requirements; advancing interoperability; conducting joint training; and providing continental U.S.-based forces and capabilities that are ready to support other combatant commanders-in-chief, the Atlantic Theater, and domestic requirements.
