Telelogic Signs Long-Term License Agreement with Westland Helicopters

Westland Helicopters Standardizes on Telelogic DOORS & DocExpress for Requirements Management & Documentation across Its U.K. Operation

MALMO, Sweden, Aug. 19, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Telelogic (Stockholm:TLOG), the leading global provider of solutions for advanced software and systems development, today announced that it has signed a license agreement with Westland Helicopters Ltd, part of AgustaWestland, the largest helicopter company in the world. The agreement worth U.S. $590,000 over a 6-year period will give Westland's U.K. based systems and software engineers access to Telelogic DOORS for requirements management and DocExpress for automated documentation generation. Both solutions are to be deployed across its U.K. Operation, covering all its main product divisions.

Westland first started evaluating DOORS for its requirements management capabilities in 2001. The choice of DOORS was made after a rigorous pilot project and was selected on three grounds: firstly, it is the market leader and used by the U.K. MoD, secondly, it provided the performance required by Westland and thirdly, Telelogic's consultants demonstrated the necessary understanding of Westlands' needs.

"We've been very happy with the product and the support provided by Telelogic," said Ed Gorochowski, a member of the DOORS Steering Committee responsible for implementing a requirements management capability within Westland.

The six-year agreement covers all product licences, support, upgrades, training and consultancy in a single contract. It also illustrates the benefits of the flexible partnership approach offered by Telelogic. "This agreement not only strengthens our long-term relationship with Westland, but also further validates the benefits of the increasing level of integration between our products," said Anders Lidbeck, President and CEO of Telelogic. "Westland had a need to address the ever-increasing complexity of product development. DOORS and DocExpress were seen as key enablers to assist them in the ongoing challenge of developing some of the world's most advanced military and commercial helicopters."

Lidbeck concluded, "Our consultancy services and systems / software engineering domain knowledge were of real benefit to Westland who realized, at a very early stage, that our past performance on similar, complex roll outs within UK MoD, BAE Systems, Thales and Astrium was of great value. We have a proven track record of assisting companies to develop a process centric requirements management capability and look forward to working with Westland over the next six years to meet this objective."
