ESPOO, Finland, Aug. 26, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Metso Corporation (NYSE:MX) and TietoEnator have agreed on the global hosting of Metso's Lotus Notes system. The use of Lotus Notes will be extended throughout Metso's entire organisation covering approximately 23,000 users around the world.
Metso and TietoEnator have collaborated for a number of years on projects including Notes services. Notes, Metso's strategic channel of internal communication, incorporates thousands of business support applications. Following a number of acquisitions, Metso now needs to unify its group-wide communication systems. The hosting deal now signed also covers new implementation projects during 2002.
"Reliable, efficient, swift and global communication is imperative for Metso's business operations. The size of Metso's communication network, MetsoNet, and the volume of communication traffic it must support, require competent and flexible partners," said Metso's Senior Vice President, CIO Ismo Platan.
"The primary goal of the agreement is to ensure that our service is available in three time zones more widely than before. Certain functions such as expert support will be available round-the-clock direct from Finland," stated Director Seppo Mellas, TietoEnator.
