SAN DIEGO, Aug. 27, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Integrated Systems sector, prime contractor for the Global Hawk unmanned reconnaissance system, has awarded two contracts to Aurora Flight Sciences for fabrication of the Global Hawk V-tails, aft fuselages, nacelles, fairings and for new tooling to be used in the fabrication of the composite hardware.

Aurora Flight Sciences is a longtime member of the Global Hawk industry team and has produced structural components for all six vehicles delivered to date.

"This award continues our strong relationship with Aurora Flight Sciences and its dedicated Global Hawk team," said Gary W. Ervin, Northrop Grumman sector vice president, Air Combat Systems. "Aurora provides quality products that have contributed to the program's success."

Work under this subcontract will begin immediately at Aurora Flight Sciences in Bridgeport, W.Va., with deliveries of the composite hardware and V-tails beginning this year and continuing into 2004.

Currently in development and low-rate initial production for the U.S. Air Force's Aeronautical Systems Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, Global Hawk is a high-altitude, long-endurance, unmanned aerial reconnaissance system designed to provide military field commanders with high-resolution, near real-time imagery of large geographic areas.
