VALBY, Denmark, Aug. 28, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- The EU Commission has just initiated a voluntary investigation of Carlsberg. The purpose is to complete investigations already carried out by the Commission concerning alleged relations between Carlsberg and Heineken during the period 1993-96. The investigation is voluntary. This means that Carlsberg is not under an obligation to let the Commission carry out the supplementary investigation. However, Carlsberg has cooperated loyally with the Commission throughout the investigations and will naturally continue to do so.
