Defense Information Systems Agency Awards Northrop Grumman $30 Million to Expand Defense Electronic Business eXchange

HERNDON, Va., Sept. 4, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has been awarded a blanket purchase agreement (BPA) by the Defense Information Systems Agency for the continuation of electronic commerce infrastructure support. The three-year agreement is worth $30 million to Northrop Grumman's Information Technology (IT) sector.

Under this BPA, Northrop Grumman IT will focus on expanding the features of the Defense Electronic Business eXchange (DEBX), an application that functions as the hub of the Department of Defense's (DoD) electronic commerce infrastructure by processing and streamlining business transactions. Currently, the DEBX encrypts, translates and transmits transactions among acquisition, logistics, transportation, travel and financial systems. Under the terms of this contract, Northrop Grumman IT will expand security and translation options to accelerate integration of emerging technologies and support DoD's modernization programs.

"This contract endorses the quality and value of the Northrop Grumman IT work performed under several previous contracts over the past seven years," said Barry Rhine, president, Defense Mission Systems, Northrop Grumman IT. "Through expansion of the DEBX, Northrop Grumman IT is accelerating DoD information technology modernization programs by bridging the technology gap between emerging and historical applications. As the DoD continues to integrate business systems through the DEBX, the concept of `The DoD Enterprise' will become reality."

Work on this contract will be performed primarily at Northrop Grumman IT facilities in Reston and Newport News, Va.; Austin, Texas; and Columbus, Ohio.
