Phashion Phest 2002 Presents `Window Shopping'


PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 4, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- First Union and Mercedes Benz present the ninth annual Phashion Phest taking place at Festival Pier at Penn's Landing on Wednesday, September 18, 2002 beginning at 6 p.m.

Creator and Executive Producer, Sharon Phillips Waxman of SPW Productions brings the Philadelphia area's upscale retailers, salons and accessory boutiques together to promote the fashion industry in the Delaware Valley. This year's show will give the public a real sense of shopping Philadelphia style as they stroll through Phashion Phest Drive and get a taste of what fabulous shopping there is to do in the Philadelphia area.

At the ninth annual fashion savvy event, guests will be treated to an extraordinary runway show that includes twenty retailers from Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley. These upscale retailers include Au Courant of Haddonfield, NJ; Bloomingdale's and Versace from The Court & The Plaza at King of Prussia; Doneckers of Ephrata, PA; Elizabeth Maar Boutique from Newtown Square and Haverford; Fashions by Penina, The Promenade at Sagemore (BOSS Hugo Boss, Coldwater Creek, La Rouge, White House/Black Market and BLUE) from Marlton, NJ; LEEHE FAI Boutique, Nicole Miller, Smith Brothers, The Shops at Liberty Place (J.Crew, Jos. A. Bank Clothier), The Boutique at Pileggi, and Trame from Philadelphia; Sterling's Boutique of New Hope, PA; and United Colors of Benetton from King of Prussia, Marlton, and Philadelphia.

The top-shelf open bar cocktail reception from 6:00-7:30 p.m. will feature the hottest trends in hair and make-up presented by Aida Armani Color Group with locations in Bryn Mawr and Narberth; Ettore Salon & Spa, Pierre & Carlo European Salon and Spa, Giovanni & Pileggi/Pileggi on the Square and Toppers Spa Salon from Philadelphia; Jolie Salon and Day Spa from Blue Bell; Salon Rouge from Cherry Hill, NJ; and Salon L'Etoile with locations in Jenkintown, Manayunk and Northeast Philadelphia.

Accessories to accent the hair, make-up and clothing trends for fall will also be featured during the cocktail reception. Informal modeling of jewelry from LAGOS The Store, and TreAnna's Adornments (The Shops at Liberty Place) from Philadelphia and McNelis & Sherry, Inc. Fine Jewelers of Haddonfield, NJ; unique handbags from Amali Designs of Cherry Hill, NJ; designer eyewear from Optique International Eyewear of Philadelphia; belt buckles from Studded of South Jersey and L'Erbolario-Italian Beauty Secrets from King of Prussia.

"New fall looks" for 2002, provided by participating salons, will be presented by Clear Channel Communications (Power 99 FM, Q102, Sunny 104.5, WDAS 105.3 FM, and WJJZ 106.1) on-air personalities during the pre-show cocktail reception. The runway fashion show of area retailers will follow.

In the event of rain, both the cocktail reception and runway show will be tented.

Again this year, guests are asked to bring a dry-cleaned article of business clothing for a man or a woman to be donated to Project H.O.M.E., so that formerly homeless individuals who have been job-trained will have appropriate interview and work clothes. Those who bring a donation for Project H.O.M.E. will be entered in a drawing to win a LAGOS "Heart of Philadelphia" necklace.
