Digital Vision DVNR Workstations with iQ Interface; Interactive HD and SD Colour Correction

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Sept. 13, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Digital Vision DVNR workstations is now being used with Quantel iQ platform. The companies are unveiling an interface between their products at IBC.

Digital Vision's DVNR real-time image processing workstations are widely used throughout the industry for colour correction (ACP-Viper) and restoration (AGR-IV Grain and noise reduction, ASC-II film dirt and scratch concealment amongst other tools). The recently introduced Valhall control station has brought the system into the frontline colour correction process, making it a natural partner for iQ for both SD and HD colour correction.

The interface uses SD- or HD-SDI to loop video through the DVNR/Valhall directly from and to the Quantel system's disks. The Quantel system remains 'live' throughout, giving the colourist interactive access to its full editing and effects toolset within the colour correction process. In this way, edits can be refined or shots re-framed as the colour correction takes place, lending a new level of creative control to the finishing process.

Quantel Market Development Manager, Mark Horton, said: "The DVNR/Valhall has a powerful suite of image processing and colour correction tools on board, which has made it a popular choice with our customers for restoration work as well as colour correction. The interface with iQ will allow them to work with colour as an interactive part of the editing and finishing process. In addition, iQ has a powerful on-board manual retouching/restoration feature set, perfectly complementing the noise, grain and scratch removal capabilities of the DVNR."

Digital Vision Product Manager, Torbjorn Dyrvold, said: "Our mutual customers have shown a great interest in getting an interface between DVNR/Valhall and the Quantel iQ platform and we are delighted to be able to offer this in co-operation with Quantel. The real-time image processing from Digital Vision combined with the powerful retouching tools from Quantel provides a cost-effective solution for disk-based colour correction and restoration - and we are continuing to work with Quantel to add more features to improve workflow yet further."
