STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Sept. 18, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Following the appointment of Lars G. Nordstrom as new Group CEO, the composition of, and the responsibilities within, Nordea's Group Executive Management will be changed as from 1 October 2002.
A new organisational unit, Group Processing and Technology, will be established with the responsibility of central production and processing and coordination of Group-wide integration projects. The new unit will speed up consolidation and integration and free up resources in business areas, thus enabling an even stronger customer and business focus.
Markku Pohjola, currently Head of Corporate and Institutional Banking, has been appointed head of the new unit which will consist of Group IT, Electronic Banking, Global Operations Services and Production & Productivity.
Kari Jordan, currently Head of Retail Banking Finland and Peter Schutze, currently Head of Retail Banking Denmark have been appointed new members of Group Executive Management; Kari Jordan as Head of Retail Banking and Peter Schutze as Head of Group Staffs.
Tom Ruud, currently Head of Group Staffs, has been appointed Head of Corporate and Institutional Banking.
Christian Clausen, Carl-Johan Granvik and Arne Liljedahl will keep their present positions.

To support and speed up implementation of Group decisions and to coordinate Group strategy execution and initiatives in the national markets members of Group Executive Management will also act as Country Senior Executives in each of the Nordic countries:
