Popeyes Brings Back Buffalo Style Nuggets for a Limited Time

Nuggets Earned One of the Highest New Product Ratings in Popeyes History

ATLANTA, Oct. 1, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Popeyes(r) Chicken & Biscuits, a division of AFC Enterprises, Inc. (Nasdaq:AFCE) and the world's second-largest quick-service chicken concept, knows a winner when it sees one. That's why the company is bringing back its spicy spin on Buffalo Style Nuggets, which earned one of the highest new-product ratings in Popeyes history when they were first introduced in June 2001. The nuggets are back in Popeyes restaurants in the United States throughout October.

"Our customers couldn't stop talking about these nuggets when we introduced them last year," said Joe Scafido, Popeyes' Chief Marketing & Menu Officer. "The nuggets are all-white meat chicken tender tips that are marinated in buffalo-wing seasoning and then lightly breaded and fried. They have all the flavor of a traditional buffalo wing, but not the mess."

Just in time for tailgating parties or watching a football game at home, Popeyes Buffalo Style Nuggets will be sold through October 27 in various markets throughout the U.S. starting at just $2.29 per Craver Pak. Guests can also make a complete combo meal by adding a regular order of Cajun-battered fries, a biscuit, dipping sauce and medium drink to their order. Buffalo Nuggets extends the line of easy-to-eat products Popeyes offers, which includes the Spicy Chicken Sandwich, Spicy Chicken Bites and Chicken Strips.

Popeyes is a leader in the Cajun segment of the foodservice industry and is the world's second-largest quick-service chicken concept. Founded in 1972 in New Orleans, Popeyes has more than 1,650 locations in 42 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and 21 other countries and achieved 2001 worldwide sales of approximately $1.3 billion.
