Bure-Owned Cygate Completes Acquisition of Maldata

GOTHENBURG, Sweden, Oct. 9, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Bure-owned Cygate acquires Maldata and thus strengthens its market position as a network integrator in the Nordic countries. Bure's (Stockholm:BURE) ownership in Cygate amounts to 73 per cent.

Following Cygate's announcement on August 21, 2002 about an agreement in principle to acquire Maldata Network Solutions from Sigma, Bure now confirms that the negotiations have been completed.

"Cygate offers its customers secure infrastructure solutions for speech, data and video communication. The acquisition of Maldata brings the company additional breadth and expertise and strengthens Cygate's competitiveness in Sweden. Together, we will achieve sales of more than SEK 1,000M. We will have approximately 350 staff with operations in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Estonia and Lithuania," said Jan Stenberg, Chairman of Cygate.

"The acquisition of Maldata is an aggressive structural deal in line with Bure's strategy to develop Cygate into a leading operator in the Nordic countries," said Borje Bengtsson, Senior Investment Manager at Bure.

The acquisition is subject to examination by the Swedish Competition Authority.
