bTrade Introduces TDImage -- New Collaboration Solution Allows Companies to Compress and Securely Exchange Image Documents via the Internet

IRVING, Texas, Oct. 9, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- bTrade, inc. announced today the newest addition to its suite of Collaborative Network Management solutions that address the secure Transaction Delivery of images - TDImage(TM).

TDImage allows companies to securely exchange image files over the Internet, and incorporates compression techniques uniquely designed for images. TDImage allows companies the freedom to add graphic and image support to their electronic business processes -- an addition that recognizes visual data as a normal component of many traditional business processes.

TDImage builds on bTrade's strong data-communications solutions that connect companies to their trading partners. This rapidly deployable software provides image compression, security and transport services to enable you to conduct image-based e-business over the Internet or any certified IP-based private network.

Traditional business processes have typically been limited to the exchange of text-based data. However, the compression techniques that apply to text are not optimized for image data. The result is that only minimal compression is achieved for image files. By incorporating compression techniques uniquely designed for images, TDImage allows companies to exchange large volumes of image data in a fraction of the time, using a fraction of the bandwidth.

Thousands of businesses worldwide have implemented imaging technologies to eliminate the limitations and inefficiencies of physical item processing, and provide significant advantages over cumbersome, traditional methods. Benefits now being realized include:

- Enhanced customer service with a faster, easier document research process; customer self-service with access to account information via the Internet;

- Improved productivity by streamlining operations, eliminating conventional processing "bottlenecks," increasing authorized staff access to imaged information, and delivering improvements in document management, processing, storage and retrieval;

- Reduced operating costs and lower unit cost of growth through more efficient statement preparation, faster and easier research capabilities, and document handling savings; and

- New revenue opportunities with additional and enhanced customer product offerings, including Internet access to account information and records processing.

Among its many features, TDImage offers:

Image Compression -- Compression allows you to decrease the transmission and storage requirements typically associated with image files. User-definable options provide a wide range of compression ratios and image recovery scenarios to fit the business need.

Security -- Security features that leverage international and national standards are integrated into TDImage. Cryptographic algorithms, widely used in financial and supply-chain exchanges, are supported by the software. These include symmetric and asymmetric keys for data privacy and asymmetric keys for digital signature operations. These features are provided at both the communication session and data level. These security features ensure the authenticity and confidentiality of your image data.

Image Processing -- TDImage allows a user to view images after they receive them by automatically launching the user's default image viewer. Images are also stored as a file on the receiving workstation.

Transporting Files -- TDImage supports standard Internet communications protocols to transport your images between applications or users. Protocols supported include FTP, Secure/FTP, AS1, and AS2.
