The Beauty of Romance: New Collection of Romantic Poetry

BLOOMINGTON, Ind., Oct. 31, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Poetry collections are some of the most soul-baring and inventive ways of communicating with people. No other form of writing allows its author to express the deep emotions of the soul as eloquently as poetry. And, while poetry can cover a broad range of feelings and experiences, it is perhaps best known as a powerful expression of love and romance.

Author Gene Hewett captures the beauty and essence of romantic poetry in his new collection, "Wine Me, Dine Me, Dance Me, Romance Me" (available from 1stBooks Library). This evocative collection reads like a collage of romantic experiences captured moment by moment on leafs of paper. More than just random poetry, "Wine Me, Dine Me" reads like an autobiographical journey in romance. The collection begins by providing snapshots of the author's early relationships, and evolves generation to generation to explore the vastly changing world of love.

This highly unique poetry collection offers many different styles for any reader. Complete with not one but three highly imaginative tables of contents, "Wine Me, Dine Me" is the definitive poetry collection of the era. The first table of contents offers the traditional format. The second illustrates the author's desire to match various rhythm and blues songs such as "Ain't No Way" to each poem. The third table shows the author's ability to enhance the spirit and mood of each poem by linking the poem to a digital image obtained from the corbis.com or corbisimage.com web site.

Author Gene Hewett is an educated man. He earned a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California School of Public Administration, now the School of Policy, Planning, and Development, a Masters in Health Administration from the University of California at Los Angeles School of Public Health, and a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Claremont McKenna College. Currently an administrator for Compton Community College in southern California, his duties include conducting institutional research, coordinating campus-wide planning, and grant proposal writing.

Hewett was first published in 1967 when the Claremont Collegian ran his short story titled "Soul Set #5." Since that time, Hewett has been a successful published writer and poet. The poems in "Wine Me, Dine Me" range from the late 60's to the present.
