LOS ANGELES, Nov. 4, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Renowned matchmaker and singles columnist Sherri Murphy is the owner of Elite Connections and is known for her magical matchmaking. But Sherri says her best magic is the party she throws at MacLaren Children's Center every year.
This year's charity event -- "Party With A Purpose" -- will be held at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades on November 22nd. Profits made on this event will be used to give the children at MacLaren an incredible Christmas party.
Last year Elite Connections raised enough money to throw a lavish Christmas party for 120 children at MacLaren's Children's Center. According to Santa Sherri, "there were so many bags of gifts, we had to rent a U-Haul truck just to deliver them all!"
The party is such a hit with the kids, coordinator Louise Peterman reports, that the kids are on good behavior for a month prior to the party. Elite has received awards from the city of El Monte and its Mayor, the last two years, for throwing the best parties in the history of the orphanage. Awards aside, there's nothing better than bringing a little joy and some smiles to children whose lives have been less than joyful for the most part.
Thanks to the success of "Party With A Purpose", Elite and friends hope to make it a Christmas to remember again this year.

Sherri walked into the matchmaking business by sheer fate. In 1994 she married Bill Murphy, a man she met through a service. She later bought into the business which matched them and opened her own company. After celebrating many recent client weddings, she opened two new offices and now has locations in Westlake, Beverly Hills and Redondo Beach. With a powerful team that includes an on-site dating coach, an image consultant, two personal fitness trainers and three psychologists, all supporting her clients' process, her style of matchmaking has worked for again and again. Sherri believes that there is more to helping people meet their mate than just introducing them to new people.
