The Truth At Any Cost - An Electronic Truth Serum Emerges in Dr. Dick Johson's `Nothing but the Truth'

SEATTLE, Wash., Nov. 6, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- "Nothing but the Truth" (now available through 1stBooks Library), by Dr. Dick Johnson, is a fictional story highlighting the development of an electronic device designed to test the honesty of individuals.

The story is set in an environment of known places and political intrigue interwoven with current events that builds a degree of realism and creditability to the truth machine and serves to stimulate the interest of the reader.

Wally Burns, a decent and ambitious young man, is the central character in the book. His work with the prestigious Washington D.C. newspaper that hired him when he graduated from college is soon recognized, and he is given an important assignment. Then he is able, by chance, to save the life of a beautiful young scientist (Marty), the inventor of the nearly infallible lie detector, and his entire life changes.

As the plot unfolds, Wally and Marty are harassed, exposed to legal action, and believe their lives to be in danger. They are secretly flown out of Washington D.C., hidden in military bases, and later returned to the Capital via Canada. Finally, a public test of the lie detector is staged.

Dick Johnson, Ph.D., is retired having worked as a professor and as an Associate Dean in the University of Washington's Graduate School of Business Administration. He developed a special graduate program, which was honored by the Ford Foundation as the most innovative program in the country that year. Dr. Johnson has written texts and reference books, and co-authored "The Theory and Management of Systems" which was published by McGraw-Hill in three editions and reprinted in French, Dutch, Russian, Spanish, and Japanese.
