Nothing Beats the Warm Embrace of a Mother; Author shares how she survived the challenges of raising two special daughters

GLENDALE, Ariz., Nov. 7, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Bearing and raising a child is many women's fantasy. Author Connie Cobb gets that wish, but never expected it to be a challenging experience. In her latest book "With These Two as Daughters..." (now available through 1stBooks Library), Cobb talks about her daughters, Chris and Carol, and the unforgettable journey that binds these three women together.

"With These Two as Daughters..." travels through embarrassing moments, humiliating encounters and serious illnesses. Readers are welcomed to the Cobb's household with open arms as the author relates Chris' birth (in a mental hospital) and Carol's traumatic accident in a swimming pool at the age of one-and-a-half.

"With daughters like these, who needs enemies? This is a chronicle of a few of the embarrassing moments ... and a few warming, adventure-filled times my daughters have tossed my way on their way to adulthood," Cobb writes.

Cobb really leaves no room for regrets in being a mother of two daughters. Cobb also recalls vividly how Chris and Carol went through the trying stages of their own marriages and adult lives. Cobb was a shoulder to cry on when Chris lost a child she was babysitting, and was there to lean on every time Carol suffered epilepsy in school. She was there to support Chris with her music lessons, and with Carol to overcome her daughter's fear of swimming.

"Why can't you two act grown up and be more like your mother," Cobb once reminded her daughters. In "With These Two Daughters," Cobb is reminding readers the same thing: that they should look up to mothers and emulate their compassion and unselfish love. Cobb's story is not just a good story for mothers-to-be but a poignant piece for readers of all ages.

All her life, Cobb has moved from one place to another. From Kansas, Cobb traveled to Minnesota, then to Texas, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Louisiana, Georgia, and back to Kansas. However, Cobb found her true home in Glendale, Ariz., where this nest of life's anecdotes was built.
