Precise Biometrics' Second Precise Match-on-Card Patent is Approved

LUND, Sweden, Nov. 18, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Precise Biometrics AB (publ) (Other OTC:PBMTF) (Stockholm:PRECa), developer and provider of world-leading user-friendly fingerprint-based biometric security solutions, has now had approved its second patent on technology for matching fingerprints on smart cards, Precise Match-on-Card(TM). The company's first patent for Precise Match-on-Card(TM), only recently approved, was the world's first patent for this type of technology. The patent is a step forward in the company's struggle to establish Precise Match-on-Card(TM) technology as a standard for security solutions based on fingerprints and smart cards.

The approved patent concerns an element of the technology that makes it possible to match and store the fingerprint directly on the smart card, rather than in a less secure environment, such as a computer or server. This entails the possibility of a scaleable security solution with a higher security level while simultaneously retaining the user's personal integrity.

"This second patent concerns the very core of the Precise Match-on-Card(TM) technology: the process that makes it possible to match and store fingerprints directly on a smart card. With two important patents for Precise Match-on-Card(TM) and established partnerships with leading smart card manufacturers, we are nearing our goal of establishing the technology as a standard for all security solutions based on fingerprints and smart cards," said Marten Obrink, Vice-President at Precise Biometrics.

The patent is registered in Sweden and pending in a number of other countries. Precise Biometrics has six other previously approved patents, five of which are registered in Sweden and one in the U.S. The company has further patent applications pending for Precise Match-on-Card(TM) technology and other inventions.
