LOS ANGELES, Nov. 19, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- (WITH PHOTO) Steve Marton, who, over 30 years contracting with the federal governments of both the U.S. and Canada, has been responsible for more than $300 million in sales, has joined BKM, and will head up contract furniture sales for the Los Angeles division of the $300 million international BKM Enterprises, Inc., effective immediately, according to Lori Tierney, President of BKM, Los Angeles. BKM, an office products and services conglomerate, whose acronym stands for "Because Knowledge Matters," is the nation's largest distributor of Steelcase products, a globally dominant $3 billion public company and manufacturer of innovative and technologically advanced contract office furniture.
"Steve Marton joins us at a critical moment, when the administration and the Pentagon are seriously ramping up defense spending," Tierney said, "and there is no more experienced and able executive to help lead BKM's continuing growth and expansion in this essential area."
"I have known and worked for many important companies and their leaderships in the public sector contract furniture arena, including Haworth, Herman Miller, Knoll, Smed and Kimball," Marton pointed out, "but BKM represents the most integrated suite of products and services, enabling government services representatives the widest possible choices."
Marton most recently was GSA Sr. Territory Manager for Haworth, managing the west region including Hawaii and Alaska, and has extensive knowledge of doing business with both the United States and Canadian federal governments and has been involved in many major projects on both sides of the border. He frequently conducts seminars on doing business with government and has written a training manual on selling to the government. Marton is a graduate of Loyola University with a major in Political Science.
