Students and teachers can now receive information about their schedules and any changes to them, even sudden ones, via the Internet or their mobile phones. Classrooms and other premises in the institutions can also be reserved via the Internet. These services are included in TietoEnator's total solution for education.
This mobile service is made possible by the work schedule solution based on the international Untis software and offered by TietoEnator. The software is particularly useful, among other things, for the allocation of resources shared by different units, preventing overlapping events and minimizing free periods in schedules. Furthermore, it helps distribute classes evenly on all days of the week, which is an issue brought up by the Finnish Ministry of Education.
The Untis solution serves educational institutions of all sizes and levels, from preliminary schools to universities. The software enables the compilation of optimized schedules for groups, teachers, classrooms and even individual students in accordance with the institution's wishes. In addition, the schedules can easily be posted on the institution's Internet or intranet site, and any changes in lessons, classrooms or other teaching-related issues can be easily communicated as mass distribution to all concerned by SMS or e-mail.
The new web service allows students to select courses and register for them via the Internet -- whether they are at home or in the library. With the ProWeb interface, students can select courses and groups and enroll in courses, exams and re-exams. The software guides the user through the selection. Furthermore, students can view course descriptions and monitor their own progress on the Internet.
