Christian Intuitive -- New Book Offers Insights on Christian Spirituality

BLOOMINGTON, Ind., Nov. 25, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Author Jim Brown recently released "Give God a Chance: Christian Spirituality from the Edgar Cayce Readings" (now available from 1stBooks Library) in order to present information that can be useful to Christians of all persuasions and to people of other faiths.

Edgar Cayce, who was widely known for his ability to diagnose illnesses and prescribe treatments while in an altered state of consciousness, was also a devout Christian, Sunday school teacher and Bible scholar.

During Cayce's lifetime and since his death in 1945, his "readings" were often given as suggestions to individuals, but the words he spoke have inspired many people and groups, years after his death. For example, some of Cayce's readings contain a wealth of historical information about the Bible, the early church, and the life of Jesus Christ. The advice in these readings encourages personal spiritual growth through disciplines such as prayer, meditation and dream analysis. Cayce also encouraged the application of spiritual principles that could bring about world transformation.

"The Cayce readings have been invaluable to me and my wife, Linda, in all areas of our lives, especially in our home where we raised eight children," said Jim Brown, a student of the Edgar Cayce readings for more than 35 years.

A former Air Force officer, Jim Brown has just retired from teaching electronics. He also teaches Sunday school and serves as an elder in his church. He has written articles for Venture Inward magazine about Cayce's perspective on the Bible and about using the Cayce readings in a church environment.

Here what some respected critics have to say about Brown's book "Give God A Chance." For more information, please visit his website at www.ChristianSpirituality.com.

"I must say that I find your book the finest and most helpful -- especially for Christian believers -- summary account of the Edgar Cayce readings that I have read."

-- Richard Henry Drummond, Ph.D. Professor Emeritus, University of Dubuque

"Brown has done a brilliant job of juxtaposing the churches' teachings and the readings' contributions ... without setting them against each other."

-- Jim Dixon, A.R.E. Spiritual Growth/Search for God Program Representative
