`Actions, Not Words' -- New Book Highlights the Sermons of Rabbi I. Edward Kiev

NEW YORK, Dec. 4, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Ari Kiev has collected his father's more memorable sermons and compiled them into an anthology fittingly entitled "Actions, Not Words: The Sermons of Rabbi I. Edward Kiev" (now available through 1stBooks Library).

His hope in publishing these sermons is to convey to all readers a book on the themes in life's lessons that lead each of us to a more meaningful life. He also hopes to acquaint a larger audience to the availability of the Kiev Collection; it's now easily accessed online.

The sermons collected in this book are from a wide body of sermons which Rabbi I. Edward Kiev delivered over the course of his life, and have been designed to provide a sense of his perspective, his intention of offering inspiration to people of all faiths and a sense of meaning to those of the Jewish faith.

The five most important themes in Rabbi Kiev's messages pertain to leading an active and purposeful life with an ethical and moral sense, a sense of community and good deeds, and with an appreciation of the connectedness of all people living on the planet.

Recently, the Kiev Collection has garnered some national and worldwide attention. After the Collection was donated by the Kiev Family to the Gelman Library of George Washington University, a subsequent essay was written concerning its content and published in the Washington Post. It has proven to be an invaluable source to scholars, students and people across the globe.

Presently, Ari Kiev works in New York City. For more information concerning the Kiev Collection, or to contribute to its educational advancement by becoming a Friend To The Kiev Collection, please visit the website www.gwu.edu/gelman/spec/kiev.
