Return to Hominy Corners -- A Couple's Pursuit of Happiness Leads Back to their Roots

RYE, Colo., Dec. 4, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- "Hominy Corners" (now available through 1stBooks Library) is the story of a couple, a man born in Indian territory and a woman born in Arkansas, who follow their roots to share happiness in life. Written by O. Ray Dodson, "Hominy Corners" is a tragic-comedy that takes place from the early 1900s to the mid-1950s.

Dodson's narrative is the historical American journey of Cal and Zelda Mae Ledbetter and tells how they survived the Great Depression, World War II and subsequent events of the nation's history. Simultaneously, the ancestry of the Ledbetter couple is examined as they discover their heritage and sense of family. It's a sweet retelling of a very old love story.

"Hominy Corners" is the expanded version of Dodson's "West of Yesterday, East of Tomorrow" which was published in 1987 by the Highlighter Press in Colorado. Historically accurate and covering one hundred years of U.S. history, "Hominy Corners" triumphs in all aspects of historical recall.

Here's a sampling of Dodson's narrative: "Driving past the old house where she and Cal had started married life, Zelda Mae was troubled to see it so run down. No one was living there; its emptiness and the front screendoor hanging by one hinge haunted her. It didn't help that the kitchen window was broken, exposing a tattered, rainsoaked curtain stirring in the wind."
