Allgon to Supply Coverage Solution for Munich's International Airport

TABY, Sweden, Dec. 10, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Allgon, a global supplier of radio-based infrastructure solutions, has been appointed coverage solution supplier to the new Terminal 2 at Munich's international airport by T-Mobile. T-Mobile is the project leader, representing four German mobile operators. Allgon's coverage solution will be delivered by the end of the year.

"The new terminal at Munich's international airport will obtain a unique multiband solution providing coverage to GSM 900 and 1800, as well as UMTS to four mobile operators in Germany," said Jeff Bork, CEO of Allgon.

The new coverage solution for T-Mobile uses Allgon's coverage technology with distributed radio heads connected by fiber optic links. This configuration offers exceptional radio quality, being very cost efficient in limited spaces as different operators may share the infrastructure and also use various wireless technologies simultaneously. These characteristics are crucial for coverage solutions in airports and other areas with many simultaneous mobile users.

The agreement with T-Mobile shows how Allgon in cooperation with their customers develop coverage solutions for demanding environments. Prior to the agreement with T-Mobile, Allgon has won several contracts concerning coverage solutions for sub and railway networks, office complexes and other "difficult" mobile environments.

"T-Mobile chose Allgon because of the business benefit we provide to our customers as a technology partner. This is especially true among others' airport coverage solutions, which makes extreme demands on the radio equipment and also the engineering skills," continued Jeff Bork.

According to the agreement, Allgon will deliver the new coverage solution by the end of the year. Munich's new Terminal 2 international airport will be launched in the beginning of 2003.

Allgon's business concept is to develop, manufacture and market radio-based solutions and other products for wireless telephony and data communications. Allgon's product range consists of antenna systems for infrastructure in mobile telephone networks; filters, combiners and similar products for base stations; repeater networks and microwave equipment. Allgon's invoiced sales amounted to SEK 2,001 million in 2001. The number of employees at the end of 2001 amounted to 950. Allgon was founded in 1946.
