`Too Many Roses and Not Enough Thorns' -- New book addresses the advantage people take of God's Love

CEDAR PARK, Texas, Dec. 19, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Bob Lucas' "Too Many Roses and Not Enough Thorns" (now available through 1stBooks Library) was born out of the conviction that people are focusing too much on the love and forgiveness of God, and not on an effort to restrain from sinning in the first place. This book deals with God's forgiveness, but also admonishes the Christian to live a life that is Christ-like.

Lucas says that "When Jesus walked upon the earth, He was rejected by His own people. He was despised. He was spat upon. He was beaten almost to the point of death, and then He was killed in the worst manner possible.

"As a thief and a traitor, He was nailed to a cross and mocked and jeered until He finally bled to death. He did this for us. This is the cost of sin. This is what it took to bring us back from Satan to God. Do we honestly believe that God would take our sins lightly after all He has paid to redeem us from sin?

"We all want the forgiveness and the love of God.

God loves us with all His power but He hates sin. As sinners saved by His marvelous grace, we should all strive to live in accordance with His will and not our own. To this purpose this book is committed."

Bob Lucas met the Lord Jesus Christ in June 1964 and accepted Him as Lord and Saviour. He heard His call to preach the gospel and surrendered his life to preach in 1966. Lucas pastored six churches in Texas over a twelve-year period. During this time he conducted many revival meetings throughout the Texas area. He served two terms as the President for the San Saba County Ministers Alliance and was Moderator for two terms of the San Saba Baptist Association.

Bob Lucas believes in personal soul-winning and in the priesthood of the believer; he believes in the local church as a place where every child of God should worship on a weekly basis. He believes in the soon return of the Lord Jesus Christ in glory, first for the saints, then with the saints to rule in the millennial reign of Christ, and he is fundamental in his beliefs that each sermon he preaches is biblical.
