MALMO, Sweden, Dec. 20, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Ingrid Bahlenberg has been appointed the new Plant Manager at Kockums Karlskrona, with 900 employees. She currently holds the position of Plant Manager at Volvo Buss in Boras and will take up her new position on February 1, 2003. She succeeds Borje Appelqvist who is retiring.

Ingrid Bahlenberg, 46, has a MSc in mechanical engineering from Lulea University, in Sweden. She has been Plant Manager at Volvo Buss in Boras since 2000, having previously held the position of Plant Manager for Volvo Parts in Flen from 1996 to 2000. In her recent positions at Volvo in Boras and Flen, she has been engaged in implementing improvements to the work organisation to promote efficiency gains. She has led and implemented this change process with excellent results.

"We are very pleased to have been able to recruit Ingrid Bahlenberg to Kockums as Plant Manager in Karlskrona, and wish her a very warm welcome. She has just the qualities and experience necessary to continue development. The challenge she and her colleagues now face is to consolidate Kockums' position as a centre of excellence in surface vessel design, with the emphasis on stealth technology, an area in which Kockums is a world leader, and to enhance production efficiency," said Martin Hagbyhn, president of Kockums, commenting on the appointment.
