The BodySpeak Manual -- A practical manual and guide for self-discovery

BOULDER, Colo., January 14, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- In today's world, it's hard to find such 'ordered common sense' found between the pages of a book. Samuel Avital's "BodySpeak(tm) Manual" (now available through 1stBooks Library) uses a systematic and sympathetic approach in providing tools for one's journey of self-discovery and artistic expression through the human body.

Avital's book is a selection of writings, essays, poems, stories, teaching situations and new exercises for the sole purpose of developing kinesthetic intelligence, and exploring the philosophy, theory, and the intention of the practice of the BodySpeak(tm) method of training. He's simplified the complex and offers original ways to decipher the 'mysteries' of the human body.

"Move freely, but with full attention, as you make your way into the multi-layers of this marvelous book. Spend time with it, study the illustrations, read and re-read key phrases until they reveal their deeper message. Above all, do the exercises. Do them many times, alone or with others. And if you are lucky, you will one day find yourself, as I did, enjoying the fruits of Samuel's teaching and perhaps planting a few seeds of your own..." (from the Forward by Mark Olsen)

Samuel Avital was born in the town of Sefrou near the Atlas mountains in Morocco. In 1958, he moved to Paris to study with the masters of mime -- Etienne Decroux and Marcel Marceau. In 1971, he founded Le Centre du Silence Mime School in Boulder, Colorado.

In addition to performing internationally, he also holds workshops on Mime and kinesthetic expression BodySpeak, teaches privately, and hosts a bi-weekly forum of creative expression called Cafe-Salon Philosophique. In addition to numerous articles, Avital has published three books, "Mime Workbook" (1975) (a German edition, "Mimenspiel," was published in 1985), "Mime and Beyond: The Silent Outcry" (1985), and "The Conception Mandala: Creative Techniques for Inviting a Child into Your Life" (1992), co-authored with Mark Olsen.

His life and work are also the subject of a video, "The Silent Outcry: The Life and Times of Samuel Avital."
