Can Love Survive the Pressures of Racial Differences? New Novel Reveals a True Test of Love

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, Jan. 16, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Some people believe in Cupid, the popular angel of love, and some people do not. Others have doubts. No matter how many times you think it over, one fact remains, love exists. However, is love only for those who have the same skin color, the same language or the same culture? Author Safi Abdi writes an exhilarating story about inter-racial love in her new novel, "A Mighty Collision of Two Worlds" (now available from 1stBooks Library).

In "A Mighty Collision of Two Worlds," Abdi tells the reader how the influence of western liberalism transformed Anisa, a black Muslim born in the East, to the point where she forgets her heritage and marries Mike, a white American with no religious affilitaion. "A Mighty Collision of Two Worlds" vividly presents the entire spectrum of life in a mixed marriage. While the book reveals the pitfalls of a mixed marriage, a new window opens to a totally different world, and the reader is ushered into Abdi's world, where people are people, and the reader is left to immerse himself in the pages of this brilliant novel. Abdi vividly explores not only the love between Anisa and Mike, but also their unique cultures and backgrounds making "A Mighty Collision of Two Worlds" an inspiring work.

Safi Abdi is Somalian and has three children. She has earned a college degree in English literature and a diploma for creative writing from the Institute of Children's Literature, West Redding, Conn. "A Mighty Collision of Two Worlds" is her first published novel. She has written several unpublished children's stories, and is an avid letter writer on current issues. She has recently completed a book-length manuscript that portrays her country's civil war and the ill effects this turmoil had on the displaced population.
