A Love Affair to Remember -- New Book Reveals the Endearing Love Story Between the Author and his Wife

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla., January 20, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- "Hey, Don't Drink Anymore of That!" (now available through 1stBooks Library) is a story about courage and loyalty, but most of all, it is a tale about love and how one man achieved all that through an extraordinary woman. Here, author and narrator Rene Van den Brande shares his exceptional relationship with his wife, Lillian, who suffered a stroke that left her paralyzed.

Based on the author's real-life experiences, "Hey, Don't Drink Anymore of That!" is a compelling narrative that follows Van den Brande from his ordeals as a young immigrant boy in a strange new country and his struggle with a chronic dislocated shoulder to his exploits as a flying instructor during World War II. It was the day when Van den Brande met his wife, Lillian, who brought colors back to his aimless life.

Van den Brande writes, "I don't know whether this will be an autobiography or a love story. I say love story because Lil just constantly fills up my thoughts. It will be only natural for me to keep interjecting these thoughts in most everything I write about."

A moving memoir laced with an endearing love story, "Hey, Don't Drink Anymore of That!" goes beyond the couple's efforts to overcome the challenges of the times. It also effectively brings to life the struggles and failures that solidified Van den Brande's faith at the time he lost his wife. "Hey, Don't Drink Anymore of That!" covers the years 1916 to 2002, the period when Van den Brande gradually achieved an inspiring sense of spiritual and emotional fulfillment.

Originally from Antwerp, Belgium, Rene Van den Brande migrated to Canada. He was a flying instructor and was discharged after WWII with the rank of Flying Officer. It was during this time that he met his wife, Lillian Phillips. Their relationship lasted for 55 years. His wife's passing prompted Van den Brande to write this book. He currently enjoys his quiet retirement in Windsor, Ontario.
