``For Sully's Sake'' -- New Novel Asks: Is a Reporter's Job Becoming a Dangerous Mission?

WAKEFIELD, Mass., January 23, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- The tragic death of reporter Daniel Pearl proves that the life of a journalist is not a walk in the park. "For Sully's Sake" (now available through 1stBooks Library) exposes the dangers and the pitfalls of a reporter's job. Set in Boston at the height of urban tension and drug wars, former newspaperman and author Harris Jameson tells the story of Homer Janos.

Homer Janos is a newspaper reporter covering the big city of Boston. Jameson interweaves dark periods in Boston's history with a gripping and exciting narrative about a reporter's search for meaning of life and love. Jameson covers these subjects eloquently, transporting the readers to a decade where murder and gang wars are routine occurrences in the great metropolis. Here, the predators, losers and hunters have names and faces; they are not merely distorted images painted on a dark wall. Homer walks with them daily as he searches for his front-page stories.

"For Sully's Sake" is both moving and incisive, attacking sensitive layers of emotions with vivid images of Homer as an insightful witness to the cruelty of the world. When Homer's childhood friend dies, his job becomes a dangerous mission. Homer uses his pen as a mighty weapon for justice, exploring the underground world of drug syndicate looking for his nemesis.

Harris Jameson is no stranger to the world about which he writes so passionately. Born and raised in Boston, he graduated from Boston Latin School, which is the oldest public high school in the country. He finished college at Boston University and holds a Master of Education Degree from Boston State College. He has done graduate work at Harvard University, Clark University and Boston University. He and his wife live in Wakefield, Mass.
