`Follow A Phantom' -- New book takes a look back at life lived through the Depression

LOGANSPORT, Ind., January 23, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- "Follow A Phantom," by Dorothy Whitney Jackson (now available through 1stBooks Library) is based on a remembrance of events during the 1920s to the present time.

It's a story that emphasizes the swiftness of time passing; how important it is to be sensitive to others and retaining the consciousness of the fact that we have so little time before we have passed from one life to another. It emphasizes the necessity of being ready for life's disappointments

The story covers the days through the Great Depression and the Second World War. It weaves a romance that covers a lifetime until we become part of the past.

More than any feeling that runs through the manuscript is the certainty that there is a definite difference between the thinking of men and women. It can be observed in young people, children and adults, but is seldom recognized.

Dorothy Whitney Jackson was born in Evansville, Indiana, and has lived in Logansport, Indiana her entire life.

This book is the story of her life. It is an unusual story because her parents were employed at the State Hospital. Jackson's father was a gardener and her mother was an occupational therapist. The picture in her mind of Cherry Lane is vivid. Cherry Lane was lined with trees when the young employees walked to catch the interurban to go into town.

The book however, is much more about the daily lives of Jackson's family, friends and herself sharing the complicated relationships between the feminine and masculine character of all ages.

This is a spiritual book; telling of the passing of time between the beginning of life and the passing of the spiritual being into the spiritual world that we anticipate in the future.
