Shana Corporation Announces Support for Microsoft BizTalk Server

Leading eForms Management Software Supports Business Process Automation

EDMONTON, Alberta, Canada, Jan. 28, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Shana Corporation, a leading electronic forms software developer, today announced its support for Microsoft(r) BizTalk Server. BizTalk Server extends the functionality of Shana's award-winning eForms management solution, Informed Quadra(tm), by allowing submitted information from an eForm to be shared with virtually any existing system. Informed Quadra's electronic forms provide an intelligent user interface for business processes that are orchestrated by BizTalk Server.

Earlier this year, Shana Corporation announced that it was moving the server components of Informed Quadra over to the .NET platform.

"We are using our integration with BizTalk Server as our first foray into the .NET connected world," said Don Murphy, Shana Corporation President. "As such, Informed Quadra is truly an enterprise-class solution allowing companies to manage their many business processes both within and outside of the firewall."

Informed Quadra leverages Microsoft BizTalk Server's integration capabilities by allowing eForms to submit XML data via HTTP to BizTalk Server. Forms users can exploit embedded form intelligence such as data validation, dynamic error checking, and complex calculations, all from a 100 percent browser-based eForm. Since the Informed Quadra form-designer tool is simple and intuitive to use, eForms can be created by business process owners, freeing valuable IT resources.

"Informed Quadra is using the capabilities of BizTalk Server in an ideal manner," said Carol Terentiak, Senior Product Manager, Commerce Platform for Microsoft Canada. "With industry leading support for standards like EDI, XML and SOAP, BizTalk Server 2002 ensures flexibility and interoperability with many business partners regardless of their choice of application, platform, or transport. This not only positions Informed Quadra to handle the integration demands of today but also future integration challenges."

Benefits to using Informed Quadra with Microsoft BizTalk Server:

-- Maintainability -- Changes to Informed(r) eForms can be easily
made by the business process owner. No knowledge of HTML coding or
programming is required to create simple to complex forms.
-- Operational efficiency -- Revision control ensures that the
current form is being used at all times.
-- Data integrity -- Informed Quadra's data validation and error
checking guarantees the integrity of data that is sent to
    Microsoft BizTalk Server.
-- Intuitive user experience -- The eForm can be designed to look
identical to paper-based forms, providing a familiar experience
for users that results in increased acceptance of the eForms.
