Another One's ``Biting The Dust'' -- a novel of survival suggestions in the case of an imminent nuclear attack

WINTER HAVEN, Fla., January 31, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Although many dismiss a nuclear attack as simply a farfetched prospect, more suitable for the big screen than for earnest thought, there are others who take this potential threat seriously. For those who would like to know what to do in the event of a nuclear event, then "Biting the Dust" (now available through 1stBooks Library) is for you.

Authored by Warren L. Naab, the book presents the story of five unrelated individuals, two women and three men, who are chosen to participate in a government-sponsored experiment. This experiment requires the group to spend 14 months in an utterly remote wilderness setting, representing a safe refuge outside of a nuclear area, far from civilization. Each member of the group is allowed to take 1,000 pounds of items along, but they are not to contact civilization. Those who complete the experiment will be rewarded with a large sum of money.

With more than eight decades behind him, Naab illustrates frightening possibilities in light of current world events. Following September 11, many American's have become more acutely aware of the imminence of some sort of military attack aimed at the United States. Nuclear threat has been discussed in the media. Naab brings to the table a message. Beyond survival tips and suggestions, Naab offers a message of hope: nuclear war would destroy buildings and material possessions, but not man's will to suffice and continue on to build a new world.

Although "Biting the Dust" is Naab's only published work, he has written several other works including an account of over 50 documented household moves Naab has made called "Rent Due So We Moved."

Naab lives in Winter Haven, Fla. He is a World War II veteran and a retired U.S. Post Office letter carrier. He is an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America and holds the adult Silver Beaver award.
