Love or Triumph -- A New Novel Details Women's Struggle to Manage their Professional and Personal Lives

MEDIA, Penn., February 5, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Some woman can have it all, a passionate marriage, healthy children and a productive career. Most women, however, must choose. They must prioritize and occasionally sacrifice one for the other. Author John A. Lomax offers readers a compelling story about the consequences of one woman's choice in his new book The Peacock Plume (now available from 1stBooks Library).

Protagonist Claudia Montana is an interior designer with aspirations of winning "The Peacock Plume," a prestigious design award. However, she is so caught up in her quest for professional fame and fortune that she neglects her family obligations. She leaves her husband Greg and their two children in Manhattan while she works on a project in Philadelphia. Greg is understandably hurt by Claudia's negligence and files for legal separation.

While the two are apart, Greg is tempted by Claudia's best friend, Kim, who actively tries to seduce him. Claudia, on the other hand, is pursued by a handsome contractor. When Greg is indicted for insider trading, it is Kim, not Claudia, who stands by him. Once he is acquitted will Greg and Claudia work out their differences or will the brilliance of the "Peacock Plume" outshine their once happy marriage?

The Peacock Plume is truly a love story for the new millennium. Its two main characters are separated by contemporary circumstances, yearning for each other, yet seemingly unable to be together. The well-written story line revolves around an increasingly important issue; namely, how can a woman effectively balance the demands of her career/profession with the needs of her family life?

John A. Lomax was born and raised in Philadelphia, Penn. He attended Penn State College and Temple University before graduating from Delaware Country Community College with honors. In addition to The Peacock Plume, Lomax has written another book Jean Lomax, Sezz Who? and many short stories. He currently resides in Media, Pennsylvania, where he enjoys writing and reading.
