HERNDON, Va., Feb. 10, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Sidney E. Fuchs, vice president and director of Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Intelligence Operations unit, has been named to the Board of Visitors of the National Defense University (NDU). Fuchs was nominated by the White House and appointed by Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld to a four-year term.

The Board of Visitors provides guidance and assistance to the NDU on a range of vital strategic and academic issues including curriculum focus, areas of research, the establishment of new programs, all to ensure future relevance. The Board enables the NDU, Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the secretary of defense, as well as other senior leadership to receive highly expert, wholly independent, and sharply focused assessments of the university and college programs, policies, research and administration. Membership on the Board includes a balance between military and civilian national security practitioners, academicians and civilian leaders in public service and the private sector.

The NDU Board of Visitors is an official advisory body and working group of distinguished Americans in business, government, education, law and other professional fields whose expertise supports NDU's mission. Former Board of Visitors members include Secretaries of Defense Rumsfeld and Brent Scowcroft, Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage, and former White House Communications Director David Gergen.
Fuchs has more than 15 years of senior management experience in government and private industry. At Northrop Grumman IT TASC, he's responsible for an operating unit with annual revenues of approximately $100 million. The unit, Intelligence Operations, provides information technology solutions, systems development and integration, enterprise engineering, and operations solutions to the U.S. national and defense Intelligence community worldwide.
