Micronic: 2002 Characterized by a Weak Semiconductor Market -- Q4 and Year-end Report 2002

Micronic Group, Today Announces Its Fourth Quarter Report, October 1-December 31, 2001 and Year-end report, January 1-December 31, 2002


TABY, Sweden, Feb. 11, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Micronic Laser Systems AB (Other OTC:MICLF) (Stockholm:MICR), is at the forefront in semiconductor and display laser pattern generators for the production of photomasks.

(Figures in brackets relate to the October 1-December 31, 2001 and January 1-December 31, 2001 periods, if not otherwise stated.)


 -- Net sales in the fourth quarter reached MSEK 182 (322). Net sales
    for 2002 reached MSEK 496 (699).

 -- The quarterly result after financial items amounted to MSEK 25
    (109). The result for 2002 after financial items amounted to
    MSEK-87 (9).

 -- The fourth quarter order intake amounted to MSEK 73 (136). The
    full-year order intake amounted to MSEK 459 (633).

 -- The closing order book at year-end was MSEK 231 (279), all of which
    is expected to be delivered and invoiced in 2003.

 -- The number of employees, after reduction of staff, has decreased
    from 355 to is 318 (327).
