It's Not Easy Being Green -- A delightful children's story following the life of a little green tree frog

STEPHENTOWN, N.Y., Feb. 14, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Finding a small, slimy or slithering creature is often a delight to children of all ages. Fascinated, one might wonder: What goes through those tiny creatures' minds? Author Erwin Schroeder brings this world to life in his newly released book, Me and Erwin (now available through 1stBooks Library).

A tiny tree frog, named Lyle, tells this adventuresome tale. The storyline follows Lyle and his human companion, Erwin, over the thousands of miles they travel in a recreation vehicle during a period of six and a half years. Curious by nature, Lyle is continually amazed by human behavior and experiences. Often humorous, yet sometimes serious, the little frog's observations are surprisingly similar to those of a human in a reversed situation.

In addition to Lyle and Erwin, Schroeder introduces additional colorful characters such as Erwin's wife, Betty, a little girl frog named Lydia, and a mysterious little elf named Leo.

Although intended mainly for children, Me and Erwin is also an enjoyable read for teens and adults. With vivid depictions and an endearing storyline, Schroeder's book is somewhat based on real life. The tree frog's character is not a work of fiction. In fact, Schroeder owns a pet frog named Lyle.

Sporting 76 years of knowledge and wisdom, Schroeder brings a lifetime of varied working experience to his writing. He spent most of his life in agriculture, forestry and construction and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. His love for nature and wild life was an aid in writing his book.

Me and Erwin is Schroeder's first published work.
