Searching for Love on the Lily Pad -- Storyteller With 50 Years Experience Breathes Life Into New Children's Book

SEBSATOPOL, Calif., Feb. 14, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Instilling a love of reading in children is perhaps one of the most important things adults can do for future generations. Books and reading promote active imaginations, creative problem solving and limitless possibilities. Children's literature is a rich and varied field and acclaimed storyteller Calvin Reed Davis has added his own magical work to the genre with Chauncey Stories (now available through 1stBooks Library).

Chauncey Stories follows the adventures of Chauncey Frog as he lives in the backyard pond of his human family, the Hermans. Chauncey's first temptation comes in the form of his love for a human girl. Unable to act on this love, Chauncey continues to hope for, seek and believe in true love. He eventually meets and falls in love with another frog, named Tillie.

The courtship of Tillie leads to marriage and the birth of their two baby tadpoles. With the birth of their children, Chauncey finds life becoming increasingly more precious. Life then becomes fast paced for Chauncey and his family as he takes part in a snail dispute and race.

Chauncey Stories is a collection of not one but five different tales detailing Chauncey's adventures, as he influences those around him and changes lives for the better.

A current resident of Sebsatopol, Calif., Davis is a long time storyteller with over fifty years experience writing and telling his stories. Davis says he has always loved the world of fantasy, which has led him to give life to the small creatures that inhabit his tales.

Davis has been a part of National Public Radio's "Story Time Series." He has also performed in storytelling festivals and venues in the United States and abroad.
